EarthCache Assessment

For your assessment, you will create an EarthCache for one of the sites you visit on our field trip.

To get started understanding this assignment, you need to know what an earth cache is.  In short, it is a geologic point of interest, created by members of the geocaching community, which is designed to provide an educational field experience.

Your tasks for today are to...

Pick a partner you would like to work on this assessment with.  You can earn an achievement badge by choosing someone you have NEVER worked with on a project before.

Visit EarthCache.org to find out what Earch Caches are,

Find examples of great Earth Caches (try searching for sites in Colorado, or the Grand Canyon, or other sites all over the world)

find out the criteria for making your own earth cache.

Make a plan for tomorrow.  Will you take pictures?  Record audio of the tour guides?  Come with really great questions to ask your tour guides?  Bring a GPS?  Take detailed notes?  Who will do which jobs?
